Teiichiro Kuroda, advising pastor

Pastor Kuroda founded SIBC in 1986. Prior to planting the church, he served as a missionary in Germany for 12 years. There he helped to establish the Japanese Evangelical Free Church in the city of Dusseldorf. This church has the distinction of being the first Japanese-speaking church in all of Europe. While in Germany, he also did extensive work behind the "Iron Curtain." His ability to speak three languages (German is his second language, English is his third!) combined with his many years experience overseas, makes him the ideal pastor of an international church.

Pastor Kuroda had been serving as pastor of SIBC for over 14 years when he stepped down from that position in September 2001. Although he still serves as an advising pastor, he is no longer involved in the day-to-day activities of the ministry. Instead, he is now devoting most of his time and energy on his other ministries. He currently pastors our sister church in Osaka (Kitahama International Bible Church), heads a missions awareness group in Japan (The Voice of Mission), runs a language school (Grace Foreign Language School) and has a ministry to businessmen (Japan European Exchange Quarters). He is also on the board of two national ministries, Harvest Time Ministries (the largest producer of Christian TV programs in Japan) and the Japan chapter of the Lausanne Conference on Jewish Evangelism (LCJE). He also travels nationally and internationally to speak at special outreach meetings. He considers himself to be an evangelist at heart.

He now lives in Osaka City with his wife (and partner in ministry), Fukiko. They have three grown sons.
